Rachel Porter Bio

Dallas Equestrian Center is excited to welcome Rachel Porter to the team of trainers!  Rachel will be working under Stacy Sanderson and running the DEC lesson program.  Rachel teaches riders of all ages and experience levels in a fun, positive environment.  Whatever your goals are- from getting on a horse for the first time to making progress with jumping, Rachel can help you achieve them. Rachel began riding at the age of 6 and has enjoyed the sport at every level- from local pony rides all the way to the Pennsylvania National Horse Show.

During her junior years, Rachel attended online high school and travelled extensively with trainer Courtney Calcagnini.  This gave her the opportunity to be fully immersed in the hunter/jumper industry, learning everything from horse care to advanced training and barn management.  Highlights of Rachel’s junior career include attending ASPCA Maclay Finals, USEF Medal Finals, 10+ placings in National and International hunter derbies on a variety of horses, as well as championships in the junior hunters and the junior jumpers across the country.  Rachel attended the University of Kentucky her freshman year, riding on the IHSA equestrian team and qualifying for Regionals and Zones in the Open division.

With a desire to try something new and be closer to home, she spent her sophomore year at the University of Texas at Austin enjoying school and the fun atmosphere of Austin, TX.  With the opportunity to train at Dallas Equestrian Center, Rachel is back in Dallas finishing her last few semesters at school while following her dream of working as a rider and trainer.
